ABOUT US:

A New Church is a non-denominational church and we are on a mission! We believe we are all uniquely designed to fulfill a God given purpose. We are fulfilled only when we are tracking with Jesus and discover His will for our lives. When the Spirit revealed to Simon (a follower of Jesus) that Jesus was the savior, Jesus in turn revealed to Simon that he was destined for greatness. Simon came to know his purpose and what he was to accomplish for the Kingdom. This marked a radical shift in Simon’s life. Jesus even changed Simon’s name. He became Peter the rock! The church builder!

In a nutshell – Jesus is saying, “You now know who I am, now let me show you who you are and go build something innovative, dynamic and powerful with far reaching results!”  A New Church is excited about collectively pursuing our purpose and tapping into the power and inexhaustible resource that is GOD!!

The purpose for every church (we are no exception) is twofold: evangelism and discipleship.

Mission Statement:

To share the love of Jesus with those who are looking for more AND to shape those who know Jesus and who desire more.

Philosophy

A New Church is aptly named; it is our intention to never be static but active, vital, fluid, open to new ideas, always rethinking church, embracing change, establishing inroads into culture and reaching our generation and generations to come for Jesus.

“We can never step into the same river twice”

Core Values

Ø      We are a community – We need each other, we can’t do it alone. The apostle Paul uses “the body” metaphor to describe the interdependence that should define the church experience. “God makes us fit together perfectly. As each of us does our own special work, we help others grow, so that we are healthy and growing and full of love.” Eph. 4:16 “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” Mother Theresa

Ø      We practice servanthood – Jesus came to serve. Servant leadership was a radical departure from the norm in the time of Christ and still is today. In the economy of God the path to greatness is found in service to mankind. Incidentally, Jesus considers our work to others a work unto Him! At A New Church we align people to serve where their passion and gifting lie, which we believe promotes a healthy community.

Ø      We are missional - No matter where you go, there you are.  No matter where you go there He is! Jesus calls us to be a light that reflects Him and attracts others to Him. The mission field is our neighborhood, our office, the marketplace and the girl who makes our mocha frappuccino at Starbucks.

Ø      We value music and the arts – Music is indeed the universal language. Music and the arts will always stir the soul and be reflective of culture. Vertical Music (meaning pointing to God) enraptures the heart, engages the mind & emotions and quickens the spirit!  “To worship is to experience Reality, to touch life. It is to know, to feel, to experience the resurrected Christ in the midst of community!” At A New Church we encourage people to express themselves artistically and we provide a forum for them to do so.

Ø      We are embracing & non-judgmental - We meet people where they are. “It is God’s kindness that produces change.” We cannot expect anyone to submit to the law of Christ until Christ has first done a work of love.

Ø      We value uniqueness of expression – Leonard Sweet, author of Aqua Church put it best - “Be yourself. Be your own person. Be your own church. Be the church God created you to be, not the church God created some other church to be.”

Ø      We are committed to developing disciples – Jesus may accept us as we are but He never leaves us as we are. He calls us to follow Him and it may cost us everything, it may mean leaving all that we know behind and trusting Him with our very life. And Jesus would have it no other way. This is what it means to be His disciple.

Ø      We encourage children & youth – Children and the youth culture are precious to Jesus. David, son of Jesse, who would become king, was just a lad when God set him apart for glory. It is critical that we discover and encourage today’s giant slayers, lion tamers and those who will lead the next generation into promise.

Ø      We build solid relationships – Whether it is husband and wife, parent and child, friend or choosing a mate we need to grow in love and grace, learn effective communication skills and be the best we can be in the role God has placed us.

Ø      We are a praying people – Jesus instructed us to pray because prayer produces results. Prayer causes the kingdom of Heaven to touch down, prayer brings provision for life, prayer enables us to forgive those who have hurt us, prayer helps us to stand in the face of opposition and prayer deepens our relationship with God. To pray is to change.

Ø      We celebrate recovery -  We all have struggles and may have areas of life that we cant seem to get a handle on, or worse, they may have a strangle hold on us. Many fall victim to addiction, depression, anxiety and the like. But there is hope, God has an answer. Jesus is a healer, a liberator, and a mender of the broken hearted and He can restore us and make us whole again. If we labor with Him it is never unfruitful.

Ø      We have fun – The church should NEVER be dull or drab. It’s Ok to have fun in church, sing a happy song, express without inhibition and be yourself. Everyone’s a comedian and why not?

Creed

Ø      God is the creator of the heavens and the earth

Ø      We are part of God’s creation, made in his image

Ø      Man, created with free will chose sin: Mankind fell & death entered the world

Ø      Jesus was conceived of the Spirit, born of the virgin Mary

Ø      Jesus was crucified, buried and was raised from the dead

Ø      Scripture is God-breathed and useful for showing us truth, exposing our character,

correcting our mistakes and training us to live God's way.

Ø      We are called to share the good news of Jesus and to love without condition

Ø      We are engaged in a spiritual battle against evil with assurance that victory is ours.

Ø      Jesus will return for the faithful

I have given much thought and prayer to defining who we are and what our vision is for church community. I am indebted to Leonard Sweet, Rick Warren, Francis Schaffer, Richard Foster and many others for helping to shape and sharpen my thinking. Above all, I am grateful to God for His kindness, forgiveness and faithfulness. I look to Him to complete what He has begun in me. In line with our philosophy, this site and its content will always be in a state of flux. It has been my intention to make this information accessible to those who have never been part of a church community. It is my hope that I have done so. I welcome your thoughts and input.

May the Lord bless you and take good care of you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord look on you with favor and give you His peace.
  Numbers 6:24-26 (NIRV)

In love,
